A photo exhibition documenting Hanoi’s old charms and new progress opened Saturday to mark the 53rd anniversary of the city’s independence.
“Hanoi – Conservation and Development” includes 56 color and black-and-white panorama prints by Nguyen Thinh, a member of the Ho Chi Minh City Photo Association and Journalism club.
On display around the Guom (Sword) Lake, Thinh’s work features the city’s infrastructure development as well as cultural and religious events in Hanoi.
Thinh said his photos not only expressed the rapid development of the city but also highlighted the capital’s traditional and cultural values.
The scenes range from the old structures of Long Bien Bridge, Voi Phuc Temple and the Hong River Dykes, to the modern urban area along the Hong River and Hanoi’s 990th Anniversary Festival.
The month-long exhibition was organized by Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee, the Department of Culture and Information and the local Thai Binh Advertising Company under the sponsorship of Canon Vietnam.
